Learn to piece the Log Cabin Quilt of your dreams! Appealing to both modern and traditional quilters alike, the log cabin block is a simple yet impactful quilting staple. In this class we will explore the importance of color placement, block layout, and piecing precision, while working with large blocks that are sized to be pre-cut friendly. The pattern and cutting instructions are designed for working with two Jelly Rolls (2.5” WOF strips) or 20-23 Fat Quarters. The contrasting effect is achieved by choosing two distinct groups of fabrics to work with, organized by color, pattern, or value for best results. This is a beginner friendly class, but all levels of quilters are welcome!
The first class will focus on fabric preparation/cutting and block construction. The second class will cover overall layout designs, and the construction of a final quilt top. Students are encouraged to sew along during class, with designated times for cutting, sewing, questions, and sharing. At the end of the second class, the goal is to have a completed 56” x 70” quilt top!
Classes will be held virtually over Zoom, so a computer, tablet, or phone with working microphone and camera is required. The class will not be recorded, and all instruction will be given live. All information will be sent through email, so be sure to register with the email address you will be using for class. Please direct any questions to LizCPQW@gmail.com
Registration for virtual classes closes 24 hours in advance of the first session so we can finalize the participant list.
