Learn the art of visible mending! In this class we'll use the traditional Japanese techniques of Sashiko and Boro to repair and customize your favorite pair of jeans. With patches and some hand stitches, you'll get the opportunity to practice one-of-a-kind creativity with this fun unconventional form of mending. We'll also discuss other mending techniques, such as darning.
Please bring with you the following supplies: A pair of your well worn jeans (preferably with tears) or jean jacket, Make + Mend by Jessica Marquez, Sashiko needles, Sashiko thread, chalk or chalk pencil for marking, fabric and thread scissors, assorted fabric scraps.
