Join us for an introductory session to kick off the Wool & Whimsy Block of the Month!
Wool & Whimsy is a 12-month series of charming seasonal wool appliqué projects from Riley Blake Designs. Each month features a 10" x 11" project combining wool appliqué with decorative hand embroidery stitches (more details on the BOM program page linked above).
In this Introductory session we will be starting with the December block, giving you plenty of time to stitch and finish this festive, holiday-themed project before the season arrives!
During this introductory session, we’ll go over how to use materials and supplies, and talk through the basics of working with wool appliqué. Jaimie will also introduce some of the hand embroidery stitches and techniques we’ll use throughout the project and help you feel ready to get started on your December block. This is also a chance to meet your fellow stitchers and learn what to expect from our upcoming Wool & Whimsy Club gatherings. Whether wool appliqué and hand embroidery are new to you or already favorite techniques, come ready to learn, stitch, and enjoy some creative time together!
Block Pick-Up & Club Schedule: Wool & Whimsy is a monthly Block of the Month program. Each month, a new block pattern and background fabric will be available for pick-up at Pennington Quilt Works. Our in-person Club sessions will meet every other month. Since handwork takes time, there’s no pressure to keep a set pace—you can move through the blocks as slowly or quickly as you’d like. Club meetings are a chance to gather, stitch, share tips and progress, and enjoy working on this project in GREAT company, no matter which “month” you happen to be on!
Please note: This registration is specifically for the introductory class. Sign up to Wool & Whimsy Block of the Month program is required to participate. Future Wool & Whimsy Club sessions will be offered separately at $15/2-hr club session every other month beginning in December (Next club date: Saturday, 12/19 @ 1-3pm, registration forthcoming!). The Club meeting schedule may be adjusted along the way based on member preferences.
